Autism Patients, Family & Community

Example: p-cresol: 17 of 17 studies find that p-cresol is higher in children with ASD vs. typically-developing children. P-cresol adversely affects the gut, brain, neurotransmitters, mitochondria, kidney, and immune system. P-cresol causes ASD symptoms when administered to mice (4 studies), but microbiota transplant from a healthy mouse can recover the mice to normal function. Similarly, our first study of MTT found that MTT reduced levels of p-cresol sulfate 90%, down to normal levels, and the children had a major improvement in gut symptoms and ASD symptoms.
