Mechanism of Action
Follistatin is a naturally occurring glycoprotein that binds and neutralizes activin A, myostatin, and other TGF-beta superfamily members. By inhibiting myostatin (the primary negative regulator of muscle growth), follistatin promotes muscle hypertrophy and strength. It also plays roles in reproductive physiology, inflammation regulation, and liver protection.
Clinical Applications
Myostatin inhibition Muscle growth and strength Fertility support Anti-inflammatory effects Liver protection Body composition optimization
Dosing Protocols
Follistatin 344: 100-300mcg subcutaneous daily for 10-30 days. Follistatin 315: similar dosing. Gene therapy approaches also under investigation. Limited standardized protocols.
Safety & Side Effects
Research compound with limited human safety data. Theoretical concerns about reproductive effects due to activin binding. Monitor reproductive hormones during use.
