More Info
Sermorelin is a synthetic 1–29 amino acid analog of endogenous growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH) that acts by selectively binding to GHRH receptors on anterior pituitary somatotrophs, activating adenylate cyclase–cAMP–PKA signaling and triggering physiologic pulsatile secretion of endogenous growth hormone (GH). Unlike exogenous GH therapy, sermorelin preserves hypothalamic–pituitary feedback regulation, resulting in more natural GH rhythm and downstream stimulation of hepatic insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) production. This mechanism supports restoration of impaired somatotropic axis activity rather than receptor bypass, making it a key research tool in endocrine regulation studies. Potential applications include investigation of growth hormone deficiency, age-related GH decline, sarcopenia, metabolic dysfunction, and body composition modulation (fat-to-lean mass ratio). It is also widely used in translational research exploring neuroendocrine signaling, anabolic metabolism, tissue repair, and recovery physiology. Due to its short half-life and physiologic signaling profile, sermorelin is valuable for studying pulsatile GH dynamics and pituitary responsiveness in both preclinical and clinical research settings.
