Mechanism of Action
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a 15-amino acid peptide derived from human gastric juice. It exerts its effects through multiple pathways including upregulation of growth factor expression (EGF, FGF, VEGF), modulation of the nitric oxide system, activation of the FAK-paxillin pathway for cell migration, and promotion of tendon fibroblast growth. BPC-157 has demonstrated cytoprotective properties across virtually every organ system studied.
Clinical Applications
Gastrointestinal healing (ulcers, IBD, leaky gut) Tendon and ligament repair Muscle injury recovery Neuroprotection and brain injury Wound healing acceleration Inflammatory bowel disease NSAID-induced damage reversal Periodontal healing
Dosing Protocols
Typical subcutaneous dosing: 250-500mcg once or twice daily. Oral dosing for GI applications: 250-500mcg twice daily on empty stomach. Treatment cycles typically run 4-8 weeks.
Safety & Side Effects
BPC-157 has shown an excellent safety profile in animal studies with no reported LD50. Common side effects are minimal and may include mild injection site reactions. No significant drug interactions have been identified in preclinical research.
