BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a partial sequence of human gastric juice protein, widely studied for its cytoprotective and regenerative properties. In vitro, BPC-157 promotes fibroblast migration, angiogenesis, and nitric oxide (NO) pathway modulation, supporting endothelial cell survival and wound repair. It has been shown to upregulate growth factors such as VEGF and enhance collagen formation in cultured cells. In vivo, BPC-157 demonstrates robust efficacy in rodent models, accelerating healing of skin wounds, muscle tears, tendon and ligament injuries, and gastrointestinal ulcers. Doses as low as 10–100 μg/kg have been reported to significantly improve tissue regeneration, reduce inflammation, and counteract NSAID-induced damage. Additionally, BPC-157 exhibits neuroprotective effects and may influence dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. These combined bioactivities position BPC-157 as a promising research compound for studies in tissue repair, angiogenesis, and inflammatory modulation.
